so i cleaned my egr yesterday and CEL is still on

So i took everything apart. removed the upper plenum and cleaned out egr. it took me 4 hours to do it. note-dont start at 10pm. CEL is still on. the battery was unhooked the whole time which i thought would have reset the ecu. i didnt get a chance to manually reset the ecu. I will do that tonight but if I still get code for egr sol. what is my next step? Just replace the solenoid? I dont want to take that damn thing apart again.

i hope to god, allah, jesus, buddha, whoever that we all worship, that you figure your problem out, becuase im having the same issue here. That egr thing could be univented, and i would never miss that damn thing. God talk about a thorn in my damn side, ive had that code on and off for a while now, and i finaly gave up and had my buddy look at it. He said that there is a relay that is bad and needing replacement so he did and hopefuly that will fix it, but im sure there is some definte carbon gunk all up in there. Good luck man and tell me how it goes!

yes the code is 1005 egrc sol. valve. i thought cleaning everything out would correct problem because i was told this part rarely goes bad. i think my next step will be to take out the solenoid and test it. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Where did you find the instructions to clean the valve?

I want instructions too! I'm getting the same code...

BTW, just run the car for a while and then reset the ECU.

the solenoid valve is the green electrical device which switches between vacuum sources to the back pressure transducer. check the solenoid and all vacuum lines. Cleaning the egr valve and hard lines will not fix an electrical or vacuum problem.

also if you dont reset the CEL it will stay on though many start ups. reset it with the screw or at auto zone.
