One side moves freely, the other moves only when you release the lever (manual seats). If you bolted the side that moves freely down first you need to move the seat or the track by releasing the lever. On power seats, just plug in the seat and adjust it until the tracks line up then bolt them down.

it is a passenger power seat. when its plugged in and i move the seat forward or back, the tracks dont move seperately, they move together. right now one track is about an inch more forward than the other track.so i cant get the bolts on. is there a way to manually adjust the power seat tracks so that they are both even so i can bolt the seat down?thanks

Just yank on them to line them up. Put some muscle into it, you'll get it.

i figured out how to fix the tracking if anyone is interested. just need to pull out the cable that connects to the seat motor towards the front of the seat, and then slide the power seat forward or back to get the tracks to line up.
