Suggestions with rusted bolts on old Y-pipe?

The guy who is putting my Budget Y-pipe on (and susupension) is having problems with rusted bolts. He has air tools, any suggestions from those who have fought this battle???

I'm Going Through The Same Thing Right Now. I'm Gonna Try To Torch It With A Bernzomatic.

if possible try avoid air tools, it may really just strip or round off things.

try spray A LOT OF wd-40. let it soak. i know it worked for me when i had to change a fuel filter on a 15 year old car for the 1st time of the car's life.

it would help if you told us which bolt, i had troubles with the bolts that connect the y-pipe and the cat, i stripped the last bolt so i removed the cat with it and then i could work on cutting the bolt out on a bench not under the car.

heat loosens up bolts. as it gets hotter, the easy it is to take off the bolts. this is why when you need to replace your 02 sensors, they say to take it off when the y-pipe has been a lil hot since its easier to take the 02 sensor off while its hot on the y-pipe. torch them off means using a torch, n torching the bolts off. if it is torched too long, the bolt will just melt and you will need to melt the whole bolt off by chisling it then with a scrwe driver hoping to split the bolt in half. i used y air tools, but it didn' work since i stripped all the bolts. i took it to a shop n they welded it off for like $80. i was mad casue i can usually do everyhing myself....but this one i just gave up n paid the $80

If you can't get the cat bolts off, I recommend having them torched off (most shops should do it for $10/each)

goto a shop and torch them, its a never ending battle otherwise. i learned the hard way the first time, then when i did it ot my SE, i went straight to a shop, got it torched and put the pipe on. took an hour and a half total vs 8 hours
