How have you delt with the speed limiter?

I know you can clip the wire on the ECU to remove it but that ends up throwing a code every so often. I was wondering what people with a 99 ECU have done, or is it possible to swap out with another 99 ECU that may not have the limiter. Or does no one have the need to drive over 115? If you have installed a switch, how did you do it? I have read the stickies but am looking for a clean/easy way to remove this.

The switch described in the stickies IS the clean, easy way to do it.

The only time it should be needed is for dynoing purposes only.

Yea that is strictly what I am going to use it for.

But what are some setups any of you guys have done, do you simply just cut the line and install any switch?? Any recommendations on what type of switch to use?

I have 2 SE's, and they go far enough in the triple digits for me ... There are no "set-ups" Take mzmtgs advice, theres not much you can do with it, excpet for what's explained in the stickys.

the best thing to do is just swap out an ecu with no speed limiter because when u clip the speed sensor wire the car thinks u r going 0 all the time and when u slow down it will make the car stall and just for future reference shift into 5th at 5800 rpm the top of fourth doesn't have enough power

Hey I think I need to trade my non limited ECU with a limited ECU. Any way I can limit it down to say 60MPH?
I keep doing this at any chance I can and seem to have no self control. I somtimes in the middle of the night get on the highway and do this. They say the first step to recovery is admiting you have a problem right?

Do you have an auto? Try taking overdrive off until you redline third gear (130ish) and then turn it on. You'll accelerate to 140 eventually.

i do have an auto...ive only gone above that once about a year and a half ago, i was stock then and had changed spark plugs that same day, now im not stock and i stop at 118-119. in 4th it stops at 4k rpms every single time, no lie, u would think it would atleast hit 4200 rpms after puttin on y-pipe, nope! all u guys r quite lucky to even know ur cars pass 120, even though u shouldnt do that

A well modded auto 4th gen is very capable of burying the needle. I buried mine when I was chasing a GT-R. Just use the OD on/off trick.

That's because you're not leaving the O/D off

I don't understand the dilemma. Cut wire, install switch between the 2 pieces of wire, done. It's not rocket science.
