Power window doesnt work properly... help

long story short, i was in an argument with someone so i got out the car and slammed the door, i hear a noise like somethin falls within the door. i think nothing of it. later i go in the car ready to go home and i roll the window down and it rolls half way and then drops down. i try to raise it up and all i hear is the motor turning but it isnt rolling the window up.

i tried taking the pannel off and looking to see if i can find what fell, and to see if i can get the window to work but to no avail my window is still not working. i did get it to roll down all the way without dropping. i can roll it all the way down but rolling up is a different issue. i also managed to keep the window up and closed by addind a zip tie on the track to prevent it from sliding down. (temporary fix)

i called a local place and they said it would be 260 for parts and labor, i told them i think everything works mayby somethin fell off or needs to be adjusted. he said in cases like this i have to replace everything and that sounds like BS.

unless this is an extremely easy fix id rather bring it somewhere to be done, i dont have to to play around 6 hours tryin to fix it. there is very little working room for my big hands anyway. anyone know what exactly is wrong. how much should it cost to fix it, wat coulkd be the problem.

Just buy an entire power window assembly from an org member. Mine messed up and found a complete assembly in one day on the org for $50. With the door panel off it took 15 min to replace.

Here is a pic of the whole thing. Just get the whole thing since you don't really know what is broken

The exact same thing happened to my driver's side rear window last year, I went online to a parts website, just googled it, it was like usacarparts.com or something like that. It cost me like $29 bucks and I replaced it myself in about 45 minutes. What happens is the wire that spools in and out of the motor housing has a steel tab on the end, however the steel tab fits into a plastic support piece on the actual window lower mount. Well after years of use the plastic eventually gives out and after one good slam or in my case I held the button too long while rolling the window up and POP! Down goes your window.

From the sound of it the motor is still working ok, so all you should need to order is the assembly. The motor is the expensive part.

This is what you need:
http://www.carpartswholesale.com/cpw/N491708.html

The part is actually called a regulator, not assembly.

Same thing happened to me also. The funny thing was when I took off the panel, the foam inside the door came loose. Easy fix for me. Sound's like your problem is a little more involved!!

i played with it for a couple hors after it happened, unscrewing things and twisting the cables, thats how i got fixed the window making it go all the way down without dropping, but it wasnt enough to fix it to roll up.

btw i was super pissed and wasnt having a good day when tryin to fix this and that clear plastic thing that wraps the inside of the door was gettin very annoying, so in a fit of rage i just yanked it all off.

its still in one piece, is it worth the hassle of putting it back on.

I just pulled part of it off and then stuck it back in place, I believe it is there just to keep dust and crap from entering/collecting inside the door, not sure though. Better safe than sorry. Only thing that pissed me off in the process was getting that black tar/glue crap that holds the clear plastic cover on all over my hands, arms, shirt, tools.
