Need Help!!! Car Wont Start!

I have full power lights, horn,radio,...etc. Car cranks...but wont turn over. I tried pumping the gas a couple times. Still nothing. Any ideas could it be electrical?...I have no clue what it could be.

What's the difference between cranking and turning over..

you say the car cranks, but then say it doesn't turn over... please explain...

Well i just changed the starter about 4 months ago, so I dont think thats the problem. As far as cranking...When I turn the key it sounds like it wants to start right up..but it doesnt. I can hold it in the cranking position and the car just wont start. When my starter was going bad, I didnt get anything at all. No sound what so ever. A couple of clicks and then nothing.

So it sounds like the car is turning over, but not catching. This can now be an air, fuel or spark issue.

1. Check all the fuses - perhaps your fuel pump is dead or fuse is blown.
2. you can buy some starting fluid and spray it into the intake to see if that works - that would help you identify if there is fuel being delivered or not.
3. Is the CEL lit - Check for codes (see stickies for details).

Just to translate Nmex I would guess that your battery is getting weak after all that cranking.

get a spark tester and see if your even getting spark. if you arenot, check the cranksensors./coils/sparkplug/ if you are, go to fuel.
next time when you try to start the car, turn it to run, and listen for the fuel pump to come on for a sec to prime the injectors. if you dont hear anything, check the fuel pump relay. and then check the fuel pump. if it all checks out, go get a noid light, and connect it to the injector harness, and crank the engine. the light should flash every time the ecm grounds the signal.

Haha sounds like you're dating yourself there - your Maxima has electronic multi port fuel injection, buddy. No carbs anymore.

when you "pump the accelerator pedal" your not putting more fuel in there, your just letting air in. the correct way to say it is "give it some air"

Same thing happened to me. After so many cranks, my battery died. When nissan looked at it, they thought it was the starter and replaced it without charging the battery (bastards). It ended up being a faulty fuel pump. The relay checked out OK. Needless to say, I had to pay for the starter, too.

There's two types of fuel pumps for our car distinguished by the electrical connectors. Make sure you get the right one.

I kinda have the same problem...except the starter turns(clicks to start the car), but the tach doesnt shoot up like it normally does, itll go up to like.5 on th rpm, and try to go up, but cant..it has started to stall out after I turn the ignition, and I end up having to turn the key 4-5 times, and press the gas each time, to get it started..once it finally starts up..I hear a belt whine pretty bad, but thats it..once I start driving, no whiny noise, no smell, the car runs fine..my car only has 89k miles..its been hot as hell here in ny recently..and I dont know what it could be..the car sat for a year and a half because the lady I bought it from moved to ireland..

Its right in front of the drivers door. against the side of the car unlike the fuse box. Its with the ABS control unit and sunroof relay. You have to take that plastic piece off. I think it just pops off. I can take a pic if you still can't find it.

I'd bet once it finally gets started you're getting a small cloud of unburnt fuel behind the car. Mine used to do that in the winter...the best fix was to clean the throttle body. It takes about 10 minutes and a can of Gumout, so I'd definetly give it a try before you do anything else.

If it is a 99, it could be a security system lockout.
Car will crank but fuel pump will not send gas to the engine.
If this is the case, then you need to have your ECU reprogrammed at a dealer.

Sounds like crankshaft sensors, why don't you test the resistance on them?
