I picked up electric air horns from an auto parts place for $25 (I think). I have them with one of the stock horns. There pretty loud and since it takes a 1/10 of a second for the air horns to go off while the regular horn is going off it sounds like 2 people honking.

I also did a little rewire so when I honk the horn my high beams go on as well. It's for those people that start to pull out on me. This way they know whos honking and to stay out of my way. Since I did that it seems to be very effective, much more then just the horn.

i think you can replace just one, but not sure what will work or how the wiring will go. i can't remember if ours are one wire or two, but if you get a horn setup with the same respective wiring, i would think it would work.

i third the highbeam/horn write-up! sounds good!

I mount my 2 Hella air horns behind front grill; on the metal piece in the middle where hood locks I made 2 small holes one on each side, then used a small piece of metal like 3 inches long with holes on both sides, then screw them; just make sure they face down a little so water do not get in. I needed some extra clear plastic hose and luckily found it at Lowes really cheap.

wiring the highbeam to come on with horn is easy and requires some wire, a diode, and a relay. tap a wire into the +12v of the horn, connect that to the diode so current only flow out of that side, and connect the other side of the diode to pin 85 on the relay. connect pin 30 to battery +12v and pin 86 to ground, then pin 87 to +12v on high beams. that way, when the horn is on, it connects the +12v from the battery to the +12v on the highbeams. simple as cake.

Yea that would work when you don't have your lights on already. But if you do that with your low beams or highbeams already on your going to burn your bulb out FAST.

why's that? how will the low beams being on affect anything? and if the highbeams are already on, chances are you're driving in a rural area w/o any cars in front of you, you probably won't be honking for no reason. i don't understand how the bulbs will burn out fast. i don't see it as any different than manually flicking the light switch to flash the highbeams.

Normaly when you put your brights on the low beams don't have power as well. A while back I accually had power going to both and the bulbs burned out quickly because it can not support that much wattage and amps.

i see what you're saying. but if the lows are on, and you honk to get the highs to flash, the lows will be cut off soon as the highs come on. they won't both be on at the same time. or does tapping a +12v into the high beams not cut off the lows like it would if you flicked the light switch?

The second one is correct. The headlights have two 12V power wires. (look in your fuse box under the hood) One for the right and one for the left. That 12V power is either connected to nothing, the low, or the high. By taking a wire off of the battery you throw more volts into the system. So when you give 12V to each highbeam from the battery it wont turn off the low beams as well. I did mine by using relays by the steering wheel, where the two 12V wires are directed to either the brights or lows.

I will have a write-up with pictures of the safe way to do it tomorrow.

You definitely will. With the setup with the wire coming from the battery to the lights you will be getting 24V and 30Amps. I accidentally did that to my headlights a while back and blew the bulb out within 5 seconds. The safest way to do it is to reroute the wires at the steering wheel.

I've got Hella Autobahn horns. They are electric and very loud. I removed the grill to install them and found an extra horn wire sitting there besides the one that's already there for the stock horn. I think it was intended for those cars without a car alarm. When I hit my horn now, I get the two Hella horns plus the alarm horn under the hood. You can get the Autobahn horn on Griots.com.
