hi-flow cat or test pipe?

Custom Enterprise has a high flow cat for $150..doubt its stainless, but its an option. You might even get better performance with it. A test pipe would be way too loud under the cabin, anyways.

My cat also needs replacement. Im going with a hi-flow for 2 reasons over the test pipe. 1 I dont want to be putting in a cat each time i have to do emmissions, as the gains from hi-flow vs test pipe are, as nmexmax said, "minimal .... if any". And 2 im getting a hi-flow cat in exchange for an axe, which i found for free, and stock orange corners. (Long story on that) Anyways, if i was u id go with a hi-flow cat as well.

Dont go with a test pipe, they sound like **** and do nothing. Get a hi-flo from warpspeed for $100, I have one and have no problems. The sound of the exhaust didnt really change. The only reason I got it was because my cat was bad, infact that is the only reason you should get one, they give no gains.

and i thought the gain of the hiflow cat was minimal. it sounds like your saying the DIFFERENCE between the test pipe and the hiflow cat are minimal.

You can not pass emissions with test pipe, but you cna pass with a hi-flow.

I say OEM cat. Unless your cat really need to be replace. I have a test pipe right now because my stock cat was clogged up, had a opening size of a nickel. What do I think? I don't like it. Don't replace your cat unless you have to. I'm looking for either OEM cat right now, might just go ahead and go with a brand new OEM cat. Anyone know if muffler shops carry OEM type cats?

If you need a new cat, a hi-flow is the best way to go. Its cheapper than OEM, it barely changes the sound if at all, it will still pass emissions, and it might add some slight HP.

I may have been on this site for a long time but dont invest a lot of my time on the site. It doesn't hurt to ask fellow org member who have diff things. I of coarse don't have a lot of money to say "Hey I tested every intake/exhaust setup". This is why we have forums to ask.

not worth the money for a test pipe unless youre going FI or you just dont want to pass smog. if youre thinking about a hi-flow cat, get one only to replace a bad stock cat. other than that its a waste of money.
