Stuttering windows

Don't know how else to describe it except when I first start my car, I try to roll down the windows and they stutter down slowly. Couple minutes later, they work fine. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this, or might know what the problem is. Thanks for the help.

i had this same problem...

What my problem was that the harness/plug on the window switches (driver side) wasnt on completely and not making 100% contact...

Now everything is fine, takes like 5 minutes to check...thats why i share haha

But then why would it do that only at start-up? I'll still check it just in case.

My windows won't roll down at all when I first start the car. They will finally work a few miles down the road. I haven't a clue what causes that.
Maybe mine is like yours, but worse.

felix/Hunter11 - something else just came to my mind.

I know in winter (in IL), if I try to put all the windows up or down at the same time (using the switches by the drivers side door), I end up tripping some overload relay, which takes a few seconds to reset. Once that relay is tripped, none of the windows go up or down. When the relay has reset itself, I am able to operate all the windows normally.

I am not sure what relay is tripping - but just thought I'd pass along the info.

Cheers.

My 5spds are quite slow compared to my auto. Also my right rear window doesn't even go down. You can hear the motor go down, but it's like the window isn't catching the track or whatever and doesn't go down sometimes, I have to push it down.

That's interesting! I will have to look into that. Are relays often replaced. I haven't heard of people having problems with that before. I hope that is what my problem is just so I will know the cause. This can be very aggrevating sometimes.

Do all the windows do this or is it just from your master control check each window individually?

Both me (2k1) and a friend (2k) of mine have that problems with the driver side window. I think it's when we go to roll it up. It's moves really slow (Slow motion for me, slow motion for me).

That's a good point. I will check other switches tonight. Also I don't think it's an overload problem, I'm rolling them down one at a time.

Does toggling the window-switch lock button on the drivers side armest make a difference? (I assume you mean that none of the switches work on first start-up right, but then they start working eventually?)

No that doesn't make a difference and yea the switches(window switches or lock button) doesn't work after start up but a few minutes later they will.
But....the sunroof always works. Don't know if that means any thing.

Also,to further complicate things, my drivers door won't unlock(sometimes will, sometime won't) with the remote but the other doors will always unlock. I don't know???? It's got progressively worse, also.

Checked it last night and every switch does this at start-up, not just the master switch.

A little update:

I called Nissan and told them the problem that I was having with the window and she told me that it was more than likely the ignition switch.

I told her how the windows won't work at start up but 5 min later they would start to work.

She told me there is something in the ignition switch that isn't recognizing the key or something along those lines. So when I will start my car it bascially isn't realizing that power needs to go to the window switch.

Any way,she told me to kinda put the key in , turn it backward alittle or put it in and pull it out just slightly. What I have been doing though is just wiggling the key in the ignition before I actually start it. It has worked every time since yesterday.

Hopefully this may help you all, and continue to work for me.
She said do this or the next best thing was to replace the whole ignition part.
