Help with cluch problem!

Hey. This morning I drove my car to band and it was hard to get the transmision into gears. It never occured to me that my clutch fluid could be low, I know I'm a dummy. When I got home I decided to clean my IACV, and I thought to check the clutch fluid and it was bone dry. I filled it up and just tried to go somewhere and could not get it into any gears unless I forced it, and it ground alittle bit when I tried to get it into reverse. I checked fluid level again, thinking there was a leak and the level was fine. The clutch is also real spongy until it catches. There is a lot more play before it catches than there use to be.

With the resivior being so low, my guess would be that I need to bleed the clutch lines.?. Or would I need a new clutch?

I'm about to go and look at it more.

Please help,
Mooney

The fact that the fluid was low indicates that there is a leak. Fix the leak, bleed the lines and you'll be back in business.

Bleed it, check level again in a few days. If it bone dry and you fill it up, you have to bleed it. Inspect all lines for a leak.

I inspected all of the lines and there is no leak. The only place I can see a leak is at the back-up light and nuetral position switch. It looks like break fluid, it's not red so I know it isn't transmission fluid. Does this sound right before I replace the switch.

the fluid that leaks from the neutral/back-up switch is gear oil. red fluid is auto tranny juice not manual gear oil. that particular leak is usually from the differential bearings starting to go. i don't think that's what is causing your clutch fluid leak.

Actually fluid leaking from that area could just mean that the switch may not be bolted down as tight as it should be. A Differential bearing leak, usually leaks thru the input shaft.

Yeah that's what i meant. the first time i saw a leak near my neutral switch i replaced it and cleaned it all up. a short while later the leak reappeared and upon further inspection, i saw that the leak was actually coming from the imput shaft.
