What do else do i need to add to my list to make my car run as good as it did factory
ok before i start doing major mods to my car i want it to get to run as close to stock as possible, meaning i would like the hp to be the same or at least close to as how it was from when it was young
right now i have 80k miles on the car and its a 1996 auto gle
so far im making this list, help me add more items too it
clean, or new fuel injectors
coilpacks
take off tb and clean behind the butterfly plate
clean egr, even though i dont have to
radiator flush
change pcv valve
i already changed o2 and knock sensor,
maybe i should get an engine flush at the oil change place?
i was thinking about cleaning inside of the intake manifold, but the only way i could think of that is seafoam, which i have mixed feelings about
hhm i know thers alot more but i forgot the rest..

Compression check can help you to see the health of your current engine. Pull the plugs and inspect the tips, they can tell you alot.
Maybe drop the oil pan and clean it out properly.
Are you going to use teh Turbo you had for sale?

good thread.. this is pretty much what my agenda has been (get car back to stock before bigger mods)
i would reccomend spark plugs (go with the ngk-copper 1 step colder, they last 10k ..)
don't know what you meant by engine flush, but check your tranny fluid, (im also auto with 115k miles though) and mine is pretty black :-/
aside from that check your brakes, lines, rotors, calipers... it turned out my rotors were warped (at a bad time) had to replace all of the above for quite a price (it hit hard when i wasn't expecting it).
next big performance items would be the knock sensor and o2 sensor but you're on top of that..
that's all that comes to mind atm..

2 da Max I would like to advise making sure that for certan sensors and such you test them with a multimeter to make sure they are fully fuctional. If they are then there is no need to replace then, as the new item will perform just like the old one, you can save a lot of money by doing this, and let the saved money go towards tuning, or guages,or pipes etc.

i put ngk platinums in there 10k miles ago as well.
Mdeezy, it is not the same turbo for sale, i might get a SC, and im really thinking of the 5sp, because my tranny is kind of sluggish right now

5 speed is my hero, though I'd say sell your max and get a 5 speed one .....
Also you might pull off the intake manifold and change the spark plug tube seals, valve cover gaskets, etc. etc.
And you could think about pulling your main drive pulley off and replacing that little ***** of a seal behind it (that has started leaking on my car ) Axles?

Rather than an engine flush, consider an AutoRX treatment. It takes 1,500 miles on the clean phase and 2,000 miles on the rinse phase. I am 600 miles into my clean phase and will be switching to synthetic after the rinse phase. See www.auto-rx.com
This should rid the engine of any varnish and sludge buildup and helps restore the seals.

Question
From what I was told when i had my Camry. Do you run the risk of an oil leak when running full synthetic since it cleans the buildup out? This is the only reason Im afraid to do this in my Max. I did it with my Camry and I got leaks. Synthetic is too expensive to be replacing because of leaks.

Like I said above, buy a bottle of AutoRX. It will help restore the seals and clean varnish and sludge out of the engine. The synthetic oil will also clean any slugdge buildup but your seals will be in better shape first. See www.auto-rx.com
