Mine just slips on. This is also the reason I've lost 3 . I made sure this last one I put on there was on really tight.

they'll probably rust or corrode quickly or something if they aren't SS. but then again, a tip is a tip.

A tip is not a tip. The tip on my car changes the sound dramatically. Personally I like how my car sounds without it, but it looks like ***. I need to find on that is fairly long and doesn't change the sound. Just go to an automotive store, buy one, try it out for sound and fit, and if it doesn't work for you return it and get another one.

I didnt know tip changes exhaust note to a noticeble extent

What type of tips would you recommend for a good deep sound for my Borla?

I just ordered a Borla Pro XS Large Oval tip and it fills up the hole. I haven't received it yet, but bhmax16 has pics of it on his Car Domain. It is 2.5" and its stainless steel. The only problem is that it costs $59. It better not fall off! I'm going to have to secure it really well! It looks really hot though.

are you guys talking tips on the stock muffler? cus i think that with the baffles it wont change much, if at all. i think if you notice sound difference it might be a little bit of harmonizing around 2500 rpm

My HKS has a 4" tip as well and it looks perfect.

If I were to stick a tip on a stock muffler, I'd chop off the existing stock tip and weld on the new tip. Otherwise I think it's ugly because you'll be able to see two different tips, the smaller stock diameter one and the larger new one.

btw, any ol muffler shop should carry a bunch of tips.

Yes that tip does fill up the bumper cutout nicely. Too bad it's off center now since one of the exhaust hangers by my cat completely rotted off so now the whole thing is crooked! And just so you know the tip I have isn't a direct fit..you'll have to weld a piece of pipe between the muffler and the tip to make it fit. Upside is once you do that you won't have to worry about it falling off

There's no reason he shouldn't be able to he just has to fit a slightly smaller pipe between the two that slides into the outlet of the muffler and allows the tip to be slid on on the other end. Then just weld it all. It's not difficult I brought my car do I guy I know who does exhaust work out of his home on weekends

Is the Borla a screw on tip or it has to be welded? Can I just screw it on or itll look bad because the stock exhaust can still be seen?

Is my stock muffler tip a screw on? Its very corroded and I am about to go grab the $4 one from Autozone. I do not have a welder, so I need to know what I am getting in to.

The Borla has the ability to be clamped on with a built-in clamping mechanism that it has but even though the Borla site says it will fit a muffler with a 2.5" outlet I found this not to be the case. Since it clamps on the outlet must be less than 2.5" so the tip can slide over the outlet. That's why I had to have my mechanic weld a small piece of pipe between the muffler and the tip. I believe all tips should be welded no matter how they're made to connect to the muffler. It just provides a much stronger connection

is a tip typically welded to the very end of the muffler outlet piping or is it slid over the piping and then welded on?

I just bought a 3" tip from Advance Auto and I love it...it was a screw on type but I got my factory tip cut off and the new one welded on so I have no fitment or lose issues regarding it. I think the 3" tip looks really nice....the 4" gives it a more sporty look whereas the 3" stays with the classy look of the Maxima while giving it some edge. Also it only cost me $20.00 and it is stainless steel.
