A/C Problem in 96...lol...

Well, my AC was working fine while I was driving back on an hour's stretch of highway from seeing my girlfriend. I got home, went inside long enough to shower and came back outside to go to work...kicked the ac on and immediately I hear an odd noise followed by a lack of cold air (noise only there when ac was on)....I was late to work anyway so I just left it...2 hours later I come back and get in my car, the noise is gone, but still no cold ac...heat does work. Do I just need a freon charge or what? Thanks for any info.....I probably have a leak too....but thats patchable right?

Hard to tell - but sounds like your compressor might have taken a crap - but like I said, hard to diagnose sounds over a forum

I believe the compressor wont turn on when its too low on freon, but since you heard a noise, something might have blown up??
