Anyone Not Carrying The Cheapo Spare?

Just decided to take mine out. I have never used that small donut on any car. Just wondering if anyone else took theirs out as well.

Exactly. The first time you have a flat, you'll regret it.

umm...its like this.....if u have a flat.....what are u going to do??? just like a lot of people carry an extra key. why....in case they loose it....you really shouldn't take ur spare out just because u never needed it. people take their spare out because of custome systems, weight reduction, or having the dual exhaust...not because they never used it....

wtf??

No one takes their spare out just because "they have never used it". Need a MUCH better reason than that.

My spare tire on my 95SE is not a donut. It's full sized on the sawblade rim and I wouldn't dream of taking it out. Which models came with the donut spare - just the GXE or did the GLE as well.

Obviously, that is one explanation for why the 95GXE is the lightest 4th Gen, particularly if it isn't equipped with a sunroof.

That might be a canadian thing... all US models came with donuts. Even today, other than some German cars, most domestic and japanese cars come with donuts, not full size spares (excluding SUVs and Jeeps, etc.).

Where I grew up (overseas), even all Japanese cars included full size spares.

My friend has a mercedes and it had a full size spare (same shape/design everything) but it was black... I thought that was weird.

I've had too many flats to go without my spare. Whenever you need it, and you will eventually, you'll wish you had it.

i have a full size spare. 50 miles an hour at up to 50 miles is not good enough for me.

it fits in the "tub" but its taller. i never tried it with the cardboard floor but its about even with the rest if the trunk.

if you do put a full size spare in, do you have room for the tools and such/does the carpet lay flat without a bump or anything?

I know the stock se wheel will not fit flush. I'm working on a fiberglass enclosure so I won't need it to fit flush anymore, i'm going to put one of my stocks back there.

Anything that you can take out will make a difference, IMO. You may not be able to feel it, but it does.

i wonder how much gas savings you save by driving without the weight of a spare in your trunk. i guess if you're an AAA member if you blow a tire you can just have them tow your car. i would definitely have a spare in though on longer trips.
