Bad timing chain tensioner effect on timing?

Title says it all. I have a bad timing chain tensioner. It rattles like hell on cold starts, and even when hot, you can sort of hear the chain if you pop the hood. Can this affect timing?

your tensionor is bad on the vq35?? I dont believe this can affect timing, but overtime you chain could stretch if you dont fix the tensionor and it COULD snap(rare)

I use the vq30 timing chain on the vq35. I believe 95s and 96s had the ****ty timing chain tensioner problem.

ohh yes, I forgot you have to use the vq30 timing chain stuff on the vq35...

yeah 95/96 have that tensionor problem, I had it when I first got the car, got louder as the rpms went up... fixed it tho and hasnt came back since, I think I sometimes get it on cold startups but it goes away...

You should get it fixed, before the chain does stretch
