Got more than a "clicking" noise now. Turns out that the rack & pinion is shot. Anyone ever do this repair before? The shop tells me that it would take 8+ hours with a bill of $1600.00. Looked through the 4th gen notes with no luck. Thanks.

 

WOW... what a price tag. I'm very positive the work is not that intensive, and you could do for far cheaper. Have you gotten a 2nd opinion?

 

1600 is rediculous, try some other mechanic shops

 

No 2nd opinion as of yet, still looking for a knowlageable shop. I can get the parts but was wondering how difficult it would be to run the install myself.
