00/01 5Spd Tranny in 4th Gen?

Hey guys what's up... I checked the FAQ's and cant seem to find it and I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before so if someone can post the link to the right thread it would be greatly appreciated..

I'm doing a 5spd swap into my 4th gen and wanna know if it's possible to use the 00/01 5spd tranny in my 4th gen so I can avoid that stupid differential bearing problem on the 4th gen trannies. If it's possible to use the 00/01 5spd, what else would I need to change/swap to make this conversion work?

Thanks in advance and plz dont flame me if this question has been asked 239759275 times before

you're right, you will need to reuse your speed sensor. your speedo won't work at all without it.

you don't need both drive axles, either. you may or may not need the driver's side axle-- you will def. need it if you use a vlsd tranny. my new tranny was open diff., but for some reason my old axle wouldn't fit. most people have done this swap just fine without a new axle though.

Southeast_first: thanx for the clarification...4th gen speed sensor it is and I guess I'll need both drive axles since I'm in Toronto and we're lucky to have LSD lol

Youre wasting your time and money... The 5th gens have the bad bearing issues too.

even so... it's not any harder than using a 4th gen tranny, and it's likely that the 5th gen tranny will have lower miles and (maybe) be better taken care of. since the prices are comparable, why not use the 5th gen? the cost of axles is a moot point since you (generally) only need new ones if you go vlsd, which you should expect to cost you extra...
