at a reasonable speed say 35- 45 miles per hour going uphill in second third fourth or fifth gear my 1995 5spd seems to sputter like maybe theres a vacuum leaqk... my dad and i checked for vacuum leaks but couldnt find one. i recently replaced the TPS and the KS. I have a brand new Short Ram intake on the car with NO LEAKS. However i am getting a reading for MAF and Intake Air Temp Sensor from the check engine light. Will this Cause my problem? OH btw, i put new NGK sparks in and new fuel filter. I used the old listen to the screw driver trick on the injectors and they seems to work well..

any Suggestions????

Oh and another thing on take off, the car runs great [1st gear] until at about 3500 rpm, it seems like it is straining to run faster.

From what I've read this issue could be caused by a bad MAF. Did you have a CEL for MAF and Intake Air Temp Sensor prior putting on the aftermarket intake?
That's where they're both connected to.

Maybe you busted ur MAF while doing the intake installation?

 

ok just went out and bought new mass air flow sensor...........CEL is gone now but car isnt having the same problem as bad.....should i put my orginal air intake back on and see if its still doing it or is there any other suggestions?

 

i believe the intake air sensor is the sensor stuck into the intake snorkel (where the fresh outside air enters and winds up in the stock airbox). What did you do with it? Did you remove it and stick it into the aftermarket midpipe that came with the short ram intake kit? You need that sensor.

 

no i slipped it into the intake and tightened the clamp around it....its not reading any errors for that anymore....but the car is still struggling up hill.

im not getting any codes now!!!!!!there is no check engine light....just the car is still doing the same crap- like it hesitates then catches once u take off in second gear or is going uphill

 

How big of an incline are you taking?

 

not big at all-- The car doesnt only do it while going up a hill.........It does it when your at a stop sign/light and take off in second gear- it kinda sputters

 

do you think its in the engine or in the trans (if you have an auto)

 

check the coil packs. When they start to go your spark gets cold and the first place you notice it is under a load. ie. going up a hill......
