I have an idea!! Will this work??
I have an idea!! Will this work??
What I want to do is get some new rims.
I don't know if someone has done this before but I want to put one set of rims on one side and a completly different set on the other side.
I mean you can only see one side at a time.
I plan to get at least the same width on both side. But do you think the weight of the different rims will matter. Say there is a 2lb difference between the left and right side wheels, how much will that effect the ride. In a way I don't think it will make a big difference if the weights are close.
I don't know for sure,so has anyone had any experience with this?
Just want some opinions on what will work and what wouldn't.
Got at least one side down...........

I mean look at my sig. What if on the other side of my car I had the rims in my first post. The rims can't "clash" or look stupid together b/c you can only see one side at atime.
I think it's a good idea
thats like if i'm missing an ear. you'd have to see both sides to realize i'm gimp.
and i think the weight is actually a big issue. I read on one of the "shop talk" things on this site that 1 pound of a wheel can roughly be calculated to 8 pounds of the vehicles curb weight. so if its 2 pounds a wheel, you could be putting 32 pounds on one side of your car.
this is just going by what i read in that article.
plus those rims look ugly.
you dont got nothin else to spend your money on?

I just thought it might be a different idea. And, like I said, you only see one side at a time. The only problem I have now is that I haven't found another set that I would like, yet. But,the more I think about it the less I want to do it though b/c of trying to match two sets of rims.
With all the backlash I guess I won't do it or if I do I won't tell anyone on here. HAHA.

well, if you were on the street and i noticed that you had 2 different set of rims. i would probably think that you were probably too cheap to buy a set of four and only managed to buy 2 sets of 2 different wheels from someone that had just messed up the other 2 wheels he had......at this rate, you might as well as paint your car two different colors as well
I've seen it with cars for front and rear but those were in a track event, nothing planned to be on the street. If you like it you can do it you dont have to obey the general census on wheather you should or shouldnt.
SO to answer the title of you thread, yes you could do it, but I'd advise against it.

Instead of just bashing your idea, I'm going to say that your car is very clean as is. You have very sought after rims on your car, the ones that questionably look THE best on the 4th gen. maxima. Why change? Look into a little performance with that money, and I'm sure you'd be pleased.
