VCV Valve

My dealer told me that it needed to be replaced, and quoted me 280, he told me affects the performance of the engine, dont really know what it does, since he was very vague except the price, any help here guys would be appreciated. Also for some reason when im driving I have a lot of hesitation when i take my foot off the pedal, like the car wants to stall, wondering if this thing is related to the VCV

"Vacuum Valve (vacuum Control Valve)
A power brake unit is made to take advantage of the vacuum the car's engine produces. A vacuum control valve allows vacuum from the engine into one side of the piston, and keeps normal atmospheric pressure on the other side. It is placed between the brake and the master cylinder piston. "
He was probably, most likely referring to the vcv and not the pcv.

All of this is completely WRONG!! The VCV is part of the evap system. Basically, it relieves the fuel tank of built up vapors via vacuum and burns them in the engine. It does NOT effect performance at all!! It is strickly emissions bullsh!t so when you open your gas cap all the vapors dont go spewing out into the atmosphere. All of this is from the FSM so dont even bother arguing with it.

I dont know exactly how much a new valve costs, but it is probably cheap if you get it from one of the nissan wholesalers. Actual replacement takes probably less than 30 minutes and a novice could do it.

Currently I am tripping the 0801 code which is the VCVBV. I have been driving around with it for several months now with out any adverse effects. Once a day I open my gas cap to relieve the tank of all the built up vapors.
