You can buy an LCA for 80 bucks and either put in yourself or have it done for 50-100 bucks.

I would check your tie-rod ends - I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't bent too.

Airbag - this will be expensive... Over $500 from the dealer for a new airbag (IIRC).

do you have full coverage insurance?

I hope you have full insurance as it sounds like you have a few thousand bucks worth of damage. Emphasize that you had a blowout. The insurance people have ways and means of determining what blew first, the tire on its own or the tire as a result of hitting the curb.

Airbags are definitely very expensive to replace. The side airbag blew on my old Maxima. Have you checked to see if the frame is okay? I was in my friend's car in highschool and we hit a curb (confusing the gas and brake pedals is NOT good!). The airbags blew up and although there was absolutely no visible damage to the exterior of the car the frame was bent and the car was totalled. That was a Neon mind you...

sorry, i thought u crashed into a tree or somethin, since its all suspension I say its doable... are you claiming it on insurance? they might just total it only because of the airbags.

Glad youre alright... I cant say anything about driving on bad tires... Id still be doing it if i didnt work at a tire store and get to pay it off... Anyway, it could have been much worse. You can get all the suspension parts you need pretty cheap. Surf ebay, and i bet you can find another air bag pretty cheaply, but you might need to get anther steering wheel somewhere. Anyway, good luck with your car, and dont forget to get an alignment after you fix it all.

It all depends how hard you hit the curb and from what direction. I'm no expert, but I would have it checked out. It sounds totalled to me. My friends car made all kinds of crazy sounds after cause the bent frame was affecting other things. We hit the curb head on...it must have been fairly hard to do all that damage. I just remember accelerating then an airbag was in my face and there was smoke everywhere.

used airbags are illegal to use in NY, but junk yards still sell them. look to spend ober a grand for them and a big ticket if you get caught driving without them. used suspension 2-400, used rack 2-300. a/m windshield 200. there should be some frame damage to cause the airbags to blow.

ok i was in a turn, and it was raining, so it just started to drissle, you know when the road is real oily like

so it was a medum to hard left turn, i was doing about 30 or so, i just took a final comming home from school to change my tires, and the i was on the right side tire for too long, i heard pow!! and then i hit the brakes, the car hydroplaned and kind of slidded into the curb on the rightside the it whiplashed from the right side of the road to the far leftside

looks like you need a new inner tie rod. A new sway bar bushing with a control arm. a new rim of course. and an alignment. I don't know how your airbags went off because I didnt see any impact to the front. maybe I didnt see the pictures right. You need new airbags and a module (airbag computer) and a new windshield.

Just so you know, if you had insurance, this car would be totalled.

And I dont know about your post. This evidently did not just happen. It seems to have happened a while ago. There's rust on the bend of your tie rod.

wtf? it happened this morning. why would i now start asking for help and parts? i need my car for work and school. its daily driven

so when the airbags deploy its considered totaled? fawk man, soo is it worth fixing? i mean i have no money for a car right now. rims is not a problem neither is the windshield, its the airbags

how the hell did it go off though? i didnt even touch the bumper

Its not necessarily totalled...its just that airbags are expensive to fix so it all depends on the value of your car. Since you have a 96 Max, you have first generation airbags which deploy easier than second generation airbags on vehicles built in 98 or later. Because of the impact to the lower portion of the car, the computer must have thought you were getting in a more serious accident. In the accident I was in, we didn't even know we hit the curb. There was absolutely no damage and the car must have bounced back cause we weren't that close to it. They definitely shouldn't have gone off in that situation.

Did you get injured at all from the airbag? Hopefully not...

frame damage?? so what would be the most logical thing to do here guys? and the most cheapest thing to do?

i could get both airbags for about 500 and less from a org member in the bronx, a steering wheel from another org member, and a rim for 190

so far

190
500

about 700 alone.. dam thats without suspension..

what should i do guys, i really love my car, and i dont want to sell it

ummm.....tell you the truth, i'd just buy another car. your car most likely have frame damage. i hit a curb with my accord at about 15 mph in the snow. about 20 ft from my driveway, i slid into the curb. i thought it was just the control arm, but it had frame damage too. wierd. but i'd def check fro frame damage. but since your in ny, i dunno who i would take it to. most of them would say, i can fix this car for blah blah blah, n if u ask them if it has frame damage, they'll say no because they don't want to fix it, or they'll say yes and won't fix the frame damage. so just be careful, but def have the frame damage checked out. you def don't want that since you can die god forbid you have another accident..

P.S. please don't post, oh that was an accord and this is a maxima.

i've had both bags blow on me in a different car

but to get them fixed correctly you have to go to the dealership; it cost ~2500 bones and chances are you bent a few things underneath the car

If you go through insurance, they may total the vehicle.
Your car is a 96?
How many miles are on it?
If all the repairs come close to what its worth, it will be totaled.
You can then either by it back at a low rate and fix it, or just give it up.

I'm sorry that sucks. If you have no insurance money coming to you you should fix it yourself.

You can tell if the airbags went off just by looking. + A cop would notice a the "Hole" all taped up.
