Temp gauge on the fritz
Temp gauge on the fritz
My temp gauge goes to H (overheat) somewhat erratically and I do not suspect any real overheating problem. I've heard of this as a common 3rd gen Maxima problem.
Anyone know if this is a common problem? Fix??
Thanks,
Scott

My gauge was doing that, so replaced the sensors & it didn't help. It turned out that it was actually overheating, but it didn't feel like it under the hood.
My problem was caused by a wornout water pump seal, it was causeing an air bubble, and as the bubble moved it cause the temp to move up & down.
$598 later I had a new water pump and the problem was solved.

Close but not quite. . the ECTS supplies temp readings to the ECU.. the sensor right next to it is the sensor for the temperature gauge
