It's noticeable - but no not loud.
LOUD was my other POS muffler on there - Very open raspy

Drone is somewhat quiet...when I turn my music off I can hear it, it sounds lovely haha
WSP resonated B pipe...er......WSP resonator

That chart is pretty accurate.

IMHO, a lil pricey to make your maxima sound like a racecar. I'd rather put that money towards something which will make it have more hp, not make it sound like it has more hp.

BUT, if I could get that setup for around say $50-75 (buy used and install myself or have someone I know do it), then hells yes I'd take it!

Make it sound like a racecar? Huh?

Ive already got some bolt ons, besides the VI and ECU...my exhaust NEEDED this. It was too loud and irritating before.

I couldnt barely have a convo. w/ passengers cuz it was so loud.

Vid is uploading

why do so many of you peeps go out buy loud and obnoxious mufflers.... then post up a ghey video clip and think they sound good?! sorry it sounds like ****. i cant fathom paying $200+ for some raspy azz fart can. I have a stock muffler and as long as I have an (unequal length) y pipe its staying stock. basically any maxima with a y pipe should stick with a stock muffler. headers are the only thing that make a maxima sound good. sorry im not attacking bijan personally since many orgers have performance mufflers. all im saying is how do you drive around like that? dont you get embarrassed? are not your friends and family annoyed?

agreed.
I like b-pipes. Never was too keen on full exhausts. Too loud for a semi-quick sedan. Even with the so called "quiet" cat-back systems like the sp, it seems a bit much. To each his own though.

Most vids make exhausts sound bad. I dont want ANYONE to even try to tell me the stock muffler sounds good with a aftermarket ypipe. If you think it sounds good just because it's quiet, you are fcking stupid. It sounds like ****.

I will find out next month when I go to ATL and see how this exhaust really sounds.

yep, half the time its the mic on the video camera that can't handle the sound of the exhaust

This is true, but I rather not hear the exhaust period. Personal preference of course. Driving around during the day, if I notice an exhaust because of the noise, it's usually on a american muscle car, or a sub-compact import with a fart can. The max is neither of those. Just seems odd hearing a max roar down the street, cruising at 30 mph.

bijan, what did you have before this that was too loud? I am planning on ordering a Dynomax Super Turbo 2.5" as soon as I find the best price. how would that sound with just y-pipe? hopefully not too loud? I heard it was pretty deep.

I agree. most everyday cameras can't handle the low bassy tones and sound waves correctly. i know mine can't. an exhaust is best heard in person for the true effect.

99Automagic, I believe that a Max can sound like that if the rest of the car can back it up. obviously not some muffler will do the trick. but with headers and full exhaust, it can get that tone. it is the true tone of the VQ. so it is there, people just aren't used to hearing it like that and therefore it seems out of place.

That makes sense too. I'm getting old or something.
I don't like loud exhausts (anything above the stock tone is loud for my old ears), not into body kits. I do enjoy tinkering with the car though, turned out to be a new hobby.

i agree, a loud exhaust is not my favorite, but one with a slightly sportier tone than OEM is what I would prefer. i'm looking for something deeper at OEM volume/dB, perhaps.

There is one, and only one cat-back that I do kind of like. The Cattman. From all the sound clips I've heard, it seems to have the most mellow tone out of them all. Haven't heard one in person, but if it sounds that nice over the computer, it has to be nice.

Man. Do Ypipes make that much of a difference in sound? I have a stock exhaust but I have a 40 Series Flowmaster on my car. It does have some boominess/drone around 2200 to 2600 RPMs, so you'll hear it more in city driving, but it's not loud enuff to make people wanna throw a challenge at every light. At highway speeds, which is what I do more of, it's almost as quiet as the stock muffler so no one will hear you coming. It's nowhere obnoxious sounding as some of the big cans people have. It's a little lighter than the stocker and fits better IMO. Bijan's car seems to have a raspier tone. I guess you could say my car has more bass. No high freqs, like I'm hearing in the clip.
$200 even installed.

Yes, y pipes do.

It sounds raspy b/c of the straight pipe

Im not a fan of how that flowmaster sounds. Get rid of the straight-pipe ASAP to see if that helps because right now it sounds like the riced out toyota corolla that was in front of me today on the way home from work with altezzas and a big coffee can muffler and sounded like a huge swarm of angry bees

That metal, rattling sound makes it sound like poo. The rasp doesn't make it any better though. Sorry Bijan but for $200 you could have gotten much better.

No sir....the rasp is strictly because of the straight pipe...I garuntee it. And like I said earlier, the video cant justify the actual sound. It doesnt make that metal noise at all - I took the video the day it was installed, and sounded kinda different. Wierd.
