grinding noise

Guys I have this weird noise evertime i take a left. I just bought the car and i put new wheels on. I looked and nothing is touching the wheel or anything its just a weird sound like a grinding noise. The pads look good. Could the rotors be a mess. Any idea's?

thanks anthony

Is it a clicking noise? If it only happens when you turn it might be a bad axle.

Check to see if the brake dust shield is rubbing the rotor.

Yeah - it would be much easier to have the wheel off... turn it all the way to the left, take the wheel off and spin the hub by hand and see if you can hear anything... you should be able to bend the shield out of the way if its contacting the rotor.

Maybe you should have looked at things before even posting. You could have answered you own question.

How can you look at the possible things without even ever taking the wheel off??

if its a high pitch grinding....its the power steering...if its a click and a thump..its the axle...also make sure your cv boot isnt ripped and keep us posted

You should probably jack the car up and give the wheels a good tug to make sure its not bearings.. then lower.. loosen bolts and jack her up again to check guards etc

I think I have the same exact issue with my wheel well liner. I think over the winter I backed out of a snowy bank (which had frozen into rock hard ice) and it caught the liner somehow and ripped the plastic liner off the screws.

I had the car inspected by my mechanic for '06-'07 and he didn't mention it, plus, I hadn't heard any noises until yesterday. Very low grinding noise which would go away and then come back when the road dipped or when I got up to 50-60 mph on the surburan roads I was on.

My question is how difficult is it to replace the wheel well liner? I found the part online and it looks like its about $70 but I think there is some labor involved in taking the bumper off, etc., which I have no experience with.

Could I be wrong and it instead be the right axel itself? The noise is a low grinding / rubbing noise, and it definitely is coming from the front right wheel.
