I guess this makes me the first.....(pics)

Well look what came in the Mail today after 10 weeks and $685 later. I got to admit after the incessant excuses from ben i was worried i would never see this thing but they were nice enough to overnight it for the same price of 3 day shipping.
I guess this offically makes me the first 1999 with JWT ECU AND MEVI.

Special Thanks to Deezo, 98SEBlackMax for helping with the MEVI install and thanks to JeffersonM for the ECU.

Nice......

It doesn't even look like I installed it.

Oh yeah, I'm ready to dyno now. All pulley and belt issues are done. I have to use a 42.7 inch belt with my aftermarket alt.

It wasn't bad but the regular hassle of the rear coolant hoses is a pain in my ****. I still have pinch marks on my fingers when I was trying to grab the hose clamps with need nose plyers while trying to put them back in place on the hoses. Damn things kept biting me.

Other things seemed easier but what's the deal with the wire connectors on the 99's? For Nissan to redesign them seems to be very unnecessary.

Clean up your engine a little. Everything is so clean, but then I see the valve cover and timing chain cover and they just look so nasty. Polish them up a little and your engine bay would look great Oh, and the throttlebody, too!

EDIT: How was the ride?

Sorry guys lets just say with the MEVI/ECU its a whole diffrent animal. Even i could tell the diffrence. I mean i could go on about how much i like it and how the increase rev limit makes it perfect when you shift since you fall back into the powerband but i will let the dynos/track slips do the talking.

Yes 1999's can get ECU upgrades BUT only 5 SPEED 1999's.

Remember when i called you after taking the car for a ride when i first got the MEVI on? Just think 100 times better.

Yes I used a 1996 ECU. This is what JWT recommends for this mod.

Well at the risk of getting into a debate and no offense to anyone who had done 00VI.
No one has shown any proven gains on the dyno or at the track. The two guys on here that have dynoed did not dyno on dynojet dynos and also have SMT6 or Apexi Safc's so i couldn't tell if there would be any advanted to the MEVI/ECU combo other than the opinions of other members.
Also MEVI is a bolt on with no modifications required and have been track proven by the majority of the fastest guys here. i drove around with My MEVI with no ECU for 2 weeks and have no complains. I wish i had done it sooner. Best money ever spent on the max

I agree 100%! I am gonna install the mevi for all of these reasons.

I read some of the things guys had to do to get that 00 vi to work... No thanks!!

Yeah dave usually sours most peoples thread but the majority of the guys on here are helpful and try to innovate for others.
I have to admit i did take a risk with the ECU for my 1999 from JWT since i was the second one they have done and i am feeling the backlash now.....
After i filled up with gas not to long ago i tried to restart the car and it didn't want to start.it just cranked. I called JWT and spoke to whoelse but BEN and he suggest i apply some "GAS" while turning it over and sure enough it started but when i tried to restart it again i had to do the same thing. So now he suggest i go to nissan tomorrow and have them set the ECU in some sort of learning mode with the NIssan Consult. He thinks its a Idle air control valve issue since it only has to deal with starts. The car has also been Idling quite low all day. I have driven A total for 35.7 miles today with the ECU in and the problems begin.i reconnect my stock ECU and she runs like a charm so we will see tomorrow. i am hoping it is what they suspect and i will let you guys know what happen when i get back from the dealer. almost 10 weeks and they still didn't get it right......

Devin i think your Forced air intake will make up for any "would be" torque loss related to the MEVI install also how is the 5speed conversion going ? Did you install the flywheel i sent you?
