RPM switches dont like me
RPM switches dont like me
Ok so about 3 months after noticing my MEVI wasnt working I had ordered a SUmmit Racing RPM switch. I heard cases where the Harlan switch would just crap out after a while so I assumed thats the problem. So I get my Summit switch the other day and go try to give my car its topend back. Hook everything up but its a no go. The green Light on the switch doesnt light up nor is the solenoid opening. I have no idea what the problem could be.
Heres my previous setup with the Harlan switch:
Red wire=tapped into 12v power from coil #1 as well as vacuum solenoid
black wire = gnd to chassis
green wire = tapped into tach signal from coil#1
white wire = connected to vacuum solenoid
New wiring setup with Summit RAcing switch: (uses 5 wires for: 12v source, gnd,
tach signal, Normally closed circuit, normally open circuit.)
Just basically removed the harlan and replaced the Summit and using the summit's N/C wire connected to the solenoid's ground. I set the switches to open up at 3000k just for testing. No green light or MEVI opening. Thinking maybe its not getting a good signal from coil#1, I tap into Coil#2 tach signal (small stripped wire) and still no green. Read the faqs and see some people run off the ECU tach signal. So I locate the wire for the tach signal on the ECU (green/white) and tap onto that. Still no go. Anyone see what can i be doing wrong?
P.S.: Vacuum and MEVI itself is working, I tested it by connecting it to a 12v and grnd and it opens up. Problem is most certainly with the RPM switch/electrical.
