power steering belt replacement

i looked through the how to section and all i found was the same crappy picture that's in the repair manual.

how do you get to the bolt at the back of the power steering pump next to the exhaust manifold?

i can barely even see it when looking from the top.

I got it with a socket and 3/8" drive rachet... you have to do it from underneath.

yeah i finally figured it out. there needs to be something in the how to section that at least says "go from the underneath" or something. this is why i like my hotrod: none of this hard to reach crap. stupid high oil prices... i'm still waiting for the day that we take over some oil and get cheap gas but i'm sure that will never happen. i would hella vote for anyone who guaranteed me cheap @ss gas, regardless of political party.

Try first to cut off the old belt, and wrap the new belt on the pulley, as if you would wrap a bicycle chain over the sprockets. This is what Nissan mechanics do. If no success, then go underneath.

I use a universal joint and two 12 inch extensions on the ratchet. Then I go over the Y-pipe from the driver's side to get to the bolt.
