Stock spoiler end mounts loose - how to fix?

My stock SE spoiler end mounts are coming loose, the pass. side is completely separated (I can pull on it and see the exposed clips), the driverside is still holding, but a bit loose.

Questions, how is this thing mounted and/or how to fix it back in place? I can see the plastic clips, but not how they connect to the spoiler itself...can they even be reused to secure it again? There doesn't appear to be any access to those clips from the inside, and I can't find anything in the FSM (page#s anyone, in case Im blind?)

I understand the middle mounts on the spoiler are plain old bolts, so the thing is not going anywhere..still, would be nice to get it fixed.

Thanks.

Can't you tighten the spolier through the trunk?

You'd think, but no.
The 2 center posts are bolted, and indeed accessible from the trunk. Those are solid as a rock though.

The side ones are holding on by some sort of clips, that are hidden between the trunk lid surface and its substructure. I can take pic if necessary to illustrate, but the summary is that there appears to be no access to them from the trunk

I actually have the same problem as you...my passenger side is completely off...i can see the exposed clip...I heard those things are pretty expensive to replace from the stealership...I think im gonna have a guy mount it down with screws like the two middle ones so I will never have that problem again.

What I dont get is, even if you get the clips, how do you get to them? For that matter, how does Nissan put them on? Im pretty much convinced there's no access to them from inside the trinklid...

Ahha...I see. So you have to take the whole bloody thing off the replace the clips. That doth suck. Maybe I'll glue it back, gotta think about this.

Thanks for the link, very helpful info over in that thread.

Does anyone have, or know where I can find, interior/exterior pics of spoiler mounted correctly on trunk? I would appreciate any help!

Well, external is a pic of any SE maxima...how's this (scroll down some)?

Someone's Max

(just got this from Google Images)

Internal...I might take some pics if I will actually replace those clips propertly...otherwise you may want to ask someone else.

Hope this helps.

THe thing is, I had the same problem, but instead, the clips were still attached to the clips on the trunk and disconnected from the spoiler itself, if you're in the same situation, then I can help. If the clips are still on the trunk, then you can check the top of the clip, and sometimes they get worn out. The little plastic clips slide into the mounts on the spoiler, then you push the clip into the hole on the trunk. To remove the clip from the trunk, take a peice of cloth, and use either the clip removal tool that can be used on interior panels, or use wire strippers, anything thats thing and can get between the trunk and the clip, and just pull it out. What I did to fix mine after I took it off the trunk, was just flip the clip around, slide it into the mount on the spoiler, then simply push the spoiler into the trunk. I hope I was able to somehow help out. Just flipping the clips around, and pushing the spoiler down, and it really works, no problem with the spoiler coming off again. Good luck!
