how Can You Know If Cat. Converter Is Bad On 95 Maxima

 

HOW CAN YOU TELL IF CAT CONVERTER IS BAD ON A 95 MAXIMA GXE, FED

 

Your CEL light will be lit telling you of an insufficiency. Read the stickies.

 

drop your exhaust and look in it. or if thats to complicted take it to a muffler shop and get them to look at it.

 

Don't tell him to read the stickies, he will put up a neg rep comment on you

 

the way most guys look at a cat is to bang on it and see if they hear the substrate banging around in there. This doesn't always work. The best way to tell is to measure the inlet and outlet temps of teh cat with a pyrometer. If the OUTLET temp is the same or LOWER than the INLET temp, you have a bad/blocked cat.
