How about resetting the ECU, and checking for codes again in the few days? If you get the 0304, then take it from there.

It would be what it is today, because they still think they're fast

I got 32 mpg during my last fillup. If the KS is busted (after you verify this by checking for codes again), then replace it. Simple as that.

Man, look at your question! Then look at ALL the knock sensor threads that get posted just about EVERY DAY. If you find a KS code, but the car is running great you have 2 options. You can either replace it or NOT. It's YOUR CAR. You don't need the org to tell you that, or do you?

We're trying to help you, but first you must help yourself, read through some stickys and stop racing Civics.

Pull the codes even if there's no CEL, see what codes you got, (if the CEL is on, most likely accompanied by an o2 sensor code)

It's a 95, and if you haven't replaced it yet (KS) odds are you'll need one.

My car still managed to keep decent gas mileage even with a partiall working KS ...

You're the that said you were racing those cars ... so you kind of ran into that one

So is it typical for the o2 sensor to be bad also? Have have that same scenario...o2 and KS code (no apparent drop in performance) 196k miles.

O2 can trigger the ks code. So reset it and see what happens.

I had a o2 cell come up a few months back, kept resetting it, it ended up setting off the ks code. The ks code only came up once, but I did the ks anyways cause I'm really getting into putting tools all over my engine bay.

The strange thing is, my o2 cells stopped popping up. I tend to think it was some sort of carbon deposit that triggered the o2, it probably burned off and returned to normal. Our o2's are so foken touchy, you just never know if it's really bad or not. So I probably had nothing wrong in the first place. I love my car.....
