Cams or FI.. this is the question...

Ok, so i've got a few parts for my turbo kit.. but i've been doing alot of thinking recently, and I just watched ironlugs video with his JWT cams and headers... the price is worth just the sound, I love it so much.
I don't know if I want to get into such high HP with FWD. I think I would regret it and want to go back to my supra for high numbers.
So:
Slowly finish putting my turbokit together, and have it all finished within a year tops, with all the mods on the car.
or:
Get JWT ECU, CAMS, and OOVI....
Keep in mind that the cams route would be ALOT cheaper than FI, and you dont have to deal with all the tuning and reliability issues...

THANKS

finish your fi. im pretty sure the cams had little improvement and were a big waste considering the price youll pay. i say get your turbo and tune it for lower end power at first to make more use of the top end restrictive stock im, then later when you can get ecu and a new 00vi retune it for a broader powerband. turbo + ecu + 00vi = holy s#%*

Wasn't Ironlung's video made with open headers?

But the rough, lumpy idle is also what excites some people (myself included), just like the noise of a Vortech V1.

true....
I'm not sure. Like I said, I don't want to put that much power to a FWD car ( or money) But cams and stuff is still expensive...
ahh, who knows....

you could try and make your own. buy blanks. blanks are always of teh heighest quality, including pistons and heads. but that would be a *****.

I have it saved on my HD at home, I can email it to you when I get home from work. It sounds rumbly at idle from the lumpy cams, and it basically howls like an exotic car-like exhaust note when revved with the cattman open headers.

Get JWT ECU, CAMS, and OOVI.... That would be nice since no one has has cams w/o a VI (excluding VQ35 hybrids) I would go with a different manufacturer and different grinds.

Wasn't Ironlung's video made with open headers?

Go to a Honduh board ... Not the JWT's as far as idle is concerned. there was someone on here that did custom grinds, and the only issue they had was that it wouldn't stay on

Yeah dude, his bumper was like 5 inches away.... that was a close one.......

Personally... for the gains you get, I dont think cams are worth it... but the gains mixed with an 00VI and the sounds is worth it

How will your low end be? I remember a while back someone had added cams (I think jwt) and they gave great top end, but low end was close to non existant. At the track he had to launch atleast at 3K to do a good run.

Sound like a great combo the cams, VI, and ecu, should run like a champ.

Oh yes! I would love to cam my car with some monster cams that almost die at idle then just rip it and listen to it roar!

When I first got into cars it was big noisey american v8s and I love that stuff.

Iron Lung's video was made with headers but no exhaust... your car won't sound like that without removing your exhaust. So don't justify the purchase of cams based on a sound which you will not recieve unless you drive around with no exhaust on your car.

I've seen a maxima in person with cams in it...
Anyways... I changed my plans.......................aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn nnndddddd
I'm gettin a Stillen V1 kit!!!!
Before I even bought my first maxima, I said to myself that I wanted a supercharger, and I wanted a supercharged maxima for so long.... I can afford everything right now, and I want to snag one before they get more rare.
So i'll be up and running in about a month hopefully.... WOOHOO

man i wouldnt touch cams with someone elses money ! you say you have a supra, dang man .. pimp that maxima out, and let the twin turbo sling up the rocks. with the maxima, get her to handle well, swap out the shifter, get a good exhaust note ( it is possible) upgrade the ecu, and just enjoy !
