Does anyone know how to replace a fan belt? The belt on my max just makes this horrible screeching noise when I start it up with the A/C on. Is it hard to change or relatively easy? If anyone knows or can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.

If you start it up with the a/c on....are you sure it isnt the a/c compressor????

 

The last time I saw a fan belt, it was on a 66 Impala. Where is your fan belt?

 

maximas dont have fan belts......try replacing the belt for alternator and a/c....but it could be powersteering as well

 

Drivebelt is super easy. Took me ten minutes to replace. Two bolts.

 

Are you sure your tensioner isnt going? I would get that checked out.

How do you know it is the belts... It could be the one of the electrical fans making noise. This is happening on my friends 96. Every time he would turn on the A/C the fans would turn on and one of them would make a horrible squeeling noise. He thought that it was his A/C compressor, but one listen under the hood and I could tell it was coming from one of the fans. I quickly unplugged the fan that was making the noise and the squeeling stopped.
