SE Maxima

I just found out I'm actually driving a SE Maxima instead of the GLE model.
For several months I thought it was the GLE because of the leather interior,
spoiler, sunroof,Bose system. But the other day I read some of the "stickies"
and they say the white gauges are only in the SE model.

You might have a GLE in which someone swapped in the white-gauge cluster..

that is more than likely. 50 bucks for a gauge cluster, or 2 grand for the leather and what not.

if you want black gauges let me know ill trade.

GLEs dont have spoilers. It's a 96, so it should have the sawblade rims. Not only the gauge face will give it away.

i thought spoilers were also a dealer option. plus rims get changed from time to time. the only definitive way to tell is the code on the vin plate in the engine bay. check the stickies.

well, notice I said, SHOULD HAVE the sawblade rims. And I havent seen one GLE with a spoiler unless someone bought one and put it on. But look at the VIN plate, and you will be 100% pos. it's not a GLE

Probably the most obvious way to tell is whether or not the car has chrome door handles and trim around the windows. Wheels, gauges, spoilers, etc are all easy and common to swap (well not gauges so much) but it's darn rare that anyone would bother to change the door handles and especially the windows. Or yeah you could just run the VIN.

Yeah, like Neal said, why would someone bother with the windows? It doesnt look good at all. Some people like chrome though, so I could understand the door handles

yup, all 99.5's are SELs and not all came with leather... just like a normal maxima (with SLIGHT cosmetic differences), only they were the "late production" 99s...

What are you talking about? SEL has nothing to do with leather, and you can get an SE in auto as well. My turbo car was originally an SE auto, and it has leather and is not an SE-L (it's a 95, SE-L is 99 only).

They are supposed to come from the factory with chrome handles, the SE's have body color handles.
