gas/fuel guage acting up in the car

so i know that there's a floater in the gas tank or sensor to tell the needle on the cluster of how much fuel i have left. well, its been acting up lately, i fill up my car n it goes up to 3/4 even tho i know its filled since it took the right amoutn of gallons. Thats a good sign that my tank is clogged up nething n is just the sensor. but how am i suppose to fix this problem?? the needle does go up to full at some times, but then right after i filled it up, i drove a bout 40 miles, its a 3/4. but then it would jump to full again. i think this only happens above 3/4 n everything else below it is fine. i know its not a big problem, but i just don't like when my gas guage is acting funny.....i've searched n cehcked the stickes, didn't find nething on it. i don't have to bring it to my mechanic do i???

Same thing happans to me... right after i fill up full, it only reads about 3/4 full. Then eventually later on goes up to full and back around. And also after 3/4 it seems to read fine. My Empty is also way off as when im below E with the light on, i still only fill up about 15-16 gallons, meaning i still have 2-3 gallons left when i fill up, and thats after i've been driving on below E with light on for a good 20+ miles. I always thought this was normal and nothing to worry about....
