Knock Sensor CEL and performance

OK here is the deal: I got the KS code 2 weeks ago while driving. I had been putting in 91 octane at that point and I tested the KS and it all checked out fine at 560mV or something like that. I reset the code and put 94 Octane in - felt like I had gained back quite some power and the CEL stayed away. I then went back to 91 just to see and the light came back on and power seems to be lacking. So now I have 94 back in but have yet to reset the CEL.

My question is will I still get ****ty performance with the 94 until I reset the CEL?

The KS wont trip the CEL on its own..
Read the stickies
You probably have another code stored
Read the stickies
Pull your codes

Performance will suffer upwards of 20 whp

And so will gas mileage

Just because it "checks out" doesn;t mean it's good.

Right...

VSS code tripped too
How do I go about checking the KS beyond measuring the resistance? Oh yeah, the wiring is all good too.

Make sure you measure the resistance when it is hot...It tends to read normal when cold

Fix the vehicle speed sensor issue, clear the error codes and see if the KS code comes back after that. If so, just replace it.

Your engine doesn't require 94 octane, your wasting your $$ using it.

I found the car felt much better (faster) when using the 94. I have heard the same conclusions as well. (Shrugs shoulders)
