Can a leaky rear main seal ruin a brand new clutch?

Basically had my clutch replaced at maximum tuning in glen cove NY, they messed up somehow and my rear main seal because my car leaks quite a bit of oil when i let it sit after driving for any period of time... Can this leaky rear main seal ruin my new clutch?
Below is a link to my thread of my experience with maximum tuning

YES...the oil can get on the friction surface and totally ruin a new clutch leaving it un-usable...

They need to fix it at no cost, especially since they messed up the seal. Even if they say the seal was bad before they installed the clutch they should have given you the option to replace it and given you a diclaimer saying that they warned you about the seal. Hopefully you paid with a credit card, if not, call the mayor's office or better business bureau.

File a complaint with the mayor's office and better business bureau, what did they say when you told them about the seal?

If it's a franchised or dealer operation, see if you can get a feedback form, and fill it out and state your problem.

In many situations I've seen service managers jump like they got hit with a hot poker in the *** when you give them negative feedback.

It can, and happened to me rear mail seal was leaking and had to get fixed and a new clutch put in.

The seal is hard to get off, maybe some org members could help you get the job done, if Maimun tunning wont do it for you.

Man that sucks. It is very easy to ruin a new rear main seal if you don't double check that it is sitting completely flush all the way around the crank. I messed up my first RMS doing that and had to put in another one. Unless your axle seal leaks are that bad, any leak that forms puddles on the ground are probably motor oil. If you want to be completely sure, you can always put some flourescent dye in the motor oil and see if makes it's way down to the bottom of the bell housing. Kind of odd that you had leaks from the axle seals too. If you overfill the tranny, it is possible to leak some through the axle seals, but it should stop once the level becomes normal. Also, the metal backed Nissan axle seals are extremely difficult to drive in flush, so faulty install is definitely possible. I find NAPA seals to be much easier and more like the original ones that came on the car (Nissan changed from plastic to metal surrounds).

Basically i contacted maximum tuning. He said if i came to Ny he would warranty his labor but not parts. Then he said that it could be my car leaking oil back there somehow... then he goes on to say nissan could have given me a bad seal. Problem is i can't go down there on a weekday because i can't miss work and he will not do it on a saturday since he said it takes to too long.

I would think that the cover would be fine... The disk might be screwed though.

I was in the same situation. I was getting a clutch job done at the dealership and I asked since my clutch is new and just the plate is soaked with oil, couldnt I just get a new PP? But basically they said nah, forgot them semi-technical explaination. I think they just wanted more money out of me. I cant think why I you couldnt just switch out the PP.
