wires from engine bay to dash board

I'm doing the drop resistor mod and i want to run wires from the drop resistor in my engine bay to a switch in my dash board or possibly coin holders.
my main question is, where do i run the switch to get straight from the engine bay and into the dash? i dont mind wires under the steering column, i just dont want them visible for the most part. gotta make it look professional .
i appreciate the help

Hummm....i guess that's the lazy way but anyway.....standing on the driver side of the car, u can reach a hole in the upper section of the firewall used for a cable for the climate control. This cable is hold into the firewall by a black rubber bushing. Pull it outta there. Laying on your back near the pedals, look up the firewall and you'll see daylight tru the hole. Now run a wire to a relay just beside the steering column or straight to your center console. But replacing perfectly the rubber thing is a pain in the ***.

whats the lazy way? i'll find that hole in the firewall, thanks.
what do you mean by wire it to a relay? i was just gonna wire it to my switch.
by the way, does anyone know if 18 gauge wire is okay to use for the drop resistor mod? i also have 20 (or 22 i forgot) gauge wire.
