Tooling the Driveshafts
ok im dropping my auto transmission(needs to be rebuilt) and putting on my new strut/spring( tokico illumina struts and CE/tokico springs). Now ive gotten everything off(cotter pin, hub nut, washer, driveshafts out of hub, struts springs out both sides and the 3 bolts on the right side driveshaft) but i cant pull out the drive shafts. Ive read to compress/push them in and they will pop out at, least ive read that will work, and ive tired to carefully use a screw driver as not to damage anything. Im just getting pissy now. Maybe im not working them hard enough but i though id take a break since ive gotten this far and post. I just wanna know the trick to those bastard(driveshaft out of transmission) so tomorrow i can just have a good day putting together the strut/springs and thinking about where/how to do the rebuilt on auto transmission.

i just pulled the driveshafts out of my 92se but havent tried it on my 97se yet so not sure how much different it is but the drivers side came right out but the passengers side was a pain. take a hammer to where those 3 bolts were and hit it until it starts to turn. then it should come out with ease.

for the passenger side I just removed the bolts that connect the axle to actual engine block. In other words I removed the axle and support bracket. Mine was stuck together. After getting it removed I borrowed a chisel and a very large hammer and was able knock the bracket off the old axle. There are 3 (14mm [im not sure on this] ) bolts holding the support bracket to engine block and 3 12 mm bolts holding the axle to the support bracket.
For the driver side I used a really large pry bar and my right foot and kicked the crap out of it and finally broke loose even though the Haynes manual says carefully pry it (I'm not sure what planet they live on).
