My '99 SE-L is the first car with all four disks. All my previous cars had front disks and rear drums. I've never had a problem with brakes squealing. My Max squeals when going at slow speeds and slow stopping. Is this normal?

squeal

My brakes have squealed under the following circumstances:

After it rains or it is very humid.
-this goes away after several stops

After I have the front brake pads replaced.
-this went away after several months.

Brake squeal is a common complaint on all makes of car. Some Maxima owners insist that only genuine Nissan brake parts will be silent. However, I have had good results with name-brand brake pads (Raybestos, etc.). You may obtain some relief by applying Blue Goo anti-squeal compound to the steel backing of your present brake pads.

Ditto on mine too. I've replaced everything from pads to rotors (all all 4 wheels) and I still get the squeal...Tends to be when I'm applying moderate to light brake pressure. Push them hard, and it stops. Annoying as hell, but I've gone to 3 places including the dealer and gone through 5 sets of pads and have yet to get rid of it.

You're right. Only on moderate to light brake applications. I found another way not to hear. I use the a/c a lot, so my windows are rolled-up most of the time, with the stereo blasting. Can't hear a them squeal anymore!

I agree with Mr Martin. Apply the anti-squeal compound and it should help.
