Friday night at about 11:30, a friend and i were screwing around on the berlin turnpike here in CT. We were up near the Mcdonalds when an 89 Trans AM GTA with exhaust pulled (i only know what it was cause we talked after all this)up next to us. We were putt'n along at about 40 so i put the clutch in and revved it a little before i dumped into second and floored it, he followed. I was in the left hand lane and we were coming up towards the exit for rt 5-15 and a car was in front of me, he passed me and the other car on the right so i did the same. We got down to the open road and we both slowed to about 30, i wasnt really looking just threw it in 2nd, i got the jump on him originally, but then he inched passed, as i hit 3rd the max lurched forward ahead half a length. then i topped it out in 3rd and banged 4th, he was still beside me about 3/4 of a car length behind. Then i glanced at the tach and i saw the needle at 5700 or so. so i shifter (right around hp peak) not quite realizing when i shifted just exactly how fast i was going, i hit 5th and i looked down at the speedo and the ticker is right near 140 i look in my rearview as his car is just about where you can start seeing his headlights in the mirror so im guessing 1 car length behind, traffic was upahead and i didnt wanna hit the speed limiter so i let off and he passed. we continued to kinda race all the way to manchester ten miles maybe. every time we got next to eachother at 50, 60, 70 , or 80, i pulled him. we stopped to talk and he asked what i had , i said i ripped off my muffler , and made my own intake. he said he was impressed and we went our ways. i know that the fact that i waxed my car earlier was what won the race. just thought id share
