How Many Miles On Your MAX?
I used to win this one all the time. 1995 Maxima SE. Original Motor. 274,xxx miles. Still got one on you though......I've been a member of the .org longer than you.....

I have been wondering how my Max conpairs to others on here so i figured I would start this thread....for fun!
OK, post how many miles you have and state weather your motor is original or not.
My Max has 285,000+ miles, original motor.
Still looking like I have the highest milage Max so far......not sure that is something to brag about.

Hey guys, new here. Just joined because I bought a used 1999 SE off of Craigslist from a private party (person). Felt it was appropriate to ask a certain question in this thread.
So I discovered that my odometer had been rolled back about 100,000 miles. Odo says 75K, but I found an oil change sticker dated 2007 that says 144K. I would imagine this car has ~175K on the engine now. I felt angry/stupid when I figured this out, but I need to figure out what to do now.
So what do I do now? If I were to just keep the car, how long do you think it would run before it would get too expensive to continue to maintain? Could I get 3-4 years out of the car without replacing anything major (engine, transmission)? Any thoughts from the mechanically inclined on here?
I'll be checking this thread every day for the next month or so. Please let me know.

1999 SEL with 145k, had for over 4 years now, bought it with 80k. So far i have replaced the CV boots, tune up, one bent rim, 4 tires (Kuhmo Ecsta 245/45/17) - worn down to the wear bars, windshield, new brakes and rotors, and 2 alignments, front end accident - replaced the grill, hood, headlights, and bumper. Orginal motor....still lovin' her.

Well in my case a lot of stuff started wearing out at that exact mileage....but if you keep on repairing things as they go wrong then you'll definatly get 3 years at least. At that mileage i have replaced both front wheel bearings, both cv axles, both lower control arms, both tie rod ends, need new struts but i'll wait a while...If you do the work yourself you will save a ton and it is still cheaper than buying a new car.
Keep an ear out for weird noises and fix them before they get to problamatic or else a bunch of repairs will hit you at once.
lets see my 95 had 274k when i swapped it for a 3.5 and sold it with 34k on the motor
than my 97 that i had for a month had 112k when sold and was stupid strong
and now my 99 has 174k and is gettin a little weak i think that it is time for a big swap!!!

1997 GLE Auto, Original motor & transmission, 200,600 miles.
I got it with 189k three years ago and did the following:
Replaced: Alternator, starter, O2 & knock sensors, all suspension (struts, springs, control arms, tie rods, end links, etc), Egr canister in the back+control valve.
Need to replace radiator support , and some body work on passenger side.

97 max, registers (stuck) at 122K, but i think based on carfax report it is 200K +, maybe a guage swap already, odometer is declared exempt. Oh well, my mechanic fixed one leak (valve cover gasket) and says she is solid. Running like a champ.

1995 GXE-5 312,500 miles original engine and transmission. Trans is starting to click and whine whether clutch is pressed in or not but its still driving excellent for the mileage. Will be rebuilding trans soon
347,xxx... 347,064 to be exact... one week from today will be the two year anniversary of purchasing it at 307K. Since then, all I've had to replace are 2 o2 sensors (the norm), replace the original rear struts, a $30 used tire (Goodyear Eagle!! Good deal), and lube the EVAP canister vent control valve. Oh and a new shift boot (the old one had essentially rotted away) and shift **** (beyond "smoothed by the hands of time"... more like worn down to the nub).
A little rust behind the right-rear wheel, and some rust spots are developing on the roof between the sunroof and windshield, but nothing too major yet...
I just did my safety inspection but she failed...needs new front brakes (no biggie) and a completely new exhaust (original is the definition of "rusting to pieces"). Gonna go get to work here soon.
Still runs like a champ though. Did 130 mph about a year ago only 3 miles after it hit 330,000. Hopefully many more miles to come!!
