how to find an exhaust leak

since i put an aftermarket muffler on, i backed into one of thoes cement divider-blocks between parking spaces :\ it put just a small scratch on the SS, but after two muffler shops, i find out that it bent my B-pipe so that it rattles now, and i think it broke my flex section (mesh pipe at the very front of the exhaust). so i backed into the cement block...and a few days later the rattle and loudness came. everything is stock besides the muffler, and it was realy quiet before all this.
every time i get into my car i feel sick when i get out and its realy pissing me off. im begining to realize that people can get seriously retarded because of an exhaust leak, if i feel like this. obviously im driving with my windows open but it doesnt even help alot...when i get out i feel sh**tty. and i have to drive

my question IS; how do i find this leak?? the shops say there's no leak but i know there is. they wont tell me because i could just go and fix it myself...
i heard of blocking the muffler halfway, and putting a drop of auto tranni fluid throgh the intake manifold so that it would smoke and come out of the leaking area..
help meeeeeeeeeeee! thanks

Run seafoam through the brake booster and you'll have plenty of smoke to help you find the leak

get someone to get a thick rag and cover the exhaust pipe, then you crawl under the car and listen for a leak. just make sure the car is cold so the guy with the rag doesnt burn his hand.

Put an air compressor on the muffler and let er rip. Some Soap and water sprayed on the exhaust will make bubbles.

Actually you can do that, but make sure you are not putting too much pressure through the system.

My guess is that your y-pipe is loose. Same thing happened to me when I first started modding.

Use two nuts to lock the pipe on better and make sure you torque them to spec.

I just put my fingers on the welds when the car was on, and i immediatly felt the air coming out of the holes.
