Question on a y pipe

i have a Injen CAI but i was reading up on (http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaYpipes)
and it says that a y pipe is a great mod to gain hp....Now im running with a stock exhaust, headers the only engine upgrade i have is the CAi.

Now i dont want to have a loud exaust sound...i like to have a quiet ride so will getting this Y pipe create a loud sound or even a big difference from stock. BTW i would get the cattman y pipe. So are those loud and will i need a cat back system to make the power or will i gain a decent amount with the Y pipe running with the CAI.

cattman and budget would be your best options as far as sound. It wont be that much louder with just a CAI, but with a aftermarket cat-back it will be a lot louder. BTW are you 5speed or auto?

I really dont want to get Header or an ehaust system so im wondering if it will be loud alone with the cai and will it still be worth the money to get it b/c i want to gain some power

Anyone else......I need as many opinions to help me figure this out

I have the Warpspeed Y-Pipe, stock b-pipe and stock muffler, barely noticeable increase in sound, or if any at all, only hear it on the start up, has a very mild rumble, at WOT it does sound a little raspy but only with the windows open, when closed, sounds just like stock, very quiet, as with the 4th gen, cant really hear anything at all.

i just had a WS Y put in yesterday. stock intake and exaust. i get a pretty raspy sound when i drive. sounds pretty noticable from my point of view. but i do like the grumble i get when i start the car up though.

1fstmax did the install for me and it took him nearly 2 hours. forgot to reset the ecu though, gotta get him to do that for me soon :P

what headers do you have is it cattman? good choice if so ,if not oh well. y-pipe and headers and intake with stock exhaust will not be that loud at all . adding a y-pipe to that set-up is like lets say your starving and you eat a bag of 25 cents chips. the amount of hunger you lost is the amount of noise you gained from the y-pipe.

You should spend about 50-75 bucks to have it installed. I would shop around right now and get a quote. And then go back when you get the pipe.

The Y-pipe install on a Warpspeed one was cake as far as actual difficulty goes. The only reason it's tough is trying to remove all the bolts in interesting positions, especially the ones up underneath the engine an arm's reach up.

The sound was definitely louder (before a CAI install - after the CAI, it's even more so). Around 3k or so, a rumbling noise starts up that transforms into a good snarl by 5k. It's a nice noise to my ears... after the install, my friend and I found ourselves driving the car with the windows down more often to listen to it.

From what I hear on the .org, the whole thing is a POS and has really bad fitment issues.
