Was replacing the spoiler light, and there was so much dang silicone spray on the underside of the trunk lid that I had to take off the whole spoiler in order to get the spoiler light wire out. I'm just trying to find out the easiest way to put it back together without making a huge mess. I have to replace the small gaskets and silicone that were between the spoiler arms and trunk lid. Not even sure if the black stuff was silicone or not.

If you took off your spoiler you would have those 4 open holes on your trunk. Fine on sunny days but not when it rains.

I wouldn't risk it... If your break one of the bolts that anchor the spoiler to the trunk your are screwed. (no pun intended) you can't replace those bolts and nissan will sell you a whole new trunk with the spoiler attached. I know from experience.

Thought about just bolting it back on without putting the seals and adhesive back on, but probably not a good idea...

you didn't even need to take the whole spoiler off to fix the LEDs. I just got a 90 degree bent phillips head screwdriver and unscrewed the three screws holding it onto the spoiler. easy as pie. but I suppose now that you did, ^^ what he said. haha.

I started a thread in the audio and electronics section on how to get the lights to work on my 95 (they haven't worked since its been in my family 10 years ago). They said to take the spoiler off. Is there an easier/better way to get those LED's to work?
^^^I read whirlwind's post but I don't think the wires are connected. What do I do?

take off stock spoiler...ive taken mine off and put it back on about 4 times now...

1. open trunk, pull carpet off the inside of trunk(under trunk lid)
2. unplug the harness wire for the leds(on the left)
3. Un-bolt the 2 nuts on each side(left and right) under trunk lid
4. close trunk lid
5. pick a side to start on(i picked passenger) have friend help to apply equal pulling force upward on front and back of spoiler(pull straight upward as to not damage the platic tabs that apperently are irreplacable..)you will hear the "pop" out of the plastic housing)
6.do same to other side but dont yank too hard cuz u need to make sure the harness for led light strip goes cleanly through the hole..

FYI dont let the bolts on spoiler scracth ur trunk...that would suck...

but its easy to take off and put back on...but be careful

I took some pics this morning to show you guys what I did to get the LEDs off easier than taking off the whole spoiler.

got this at the local hardware store. (came in a set of three different sizes)

and used it like this. (with plenty of room underneath it so the paint doesn't get scratched as the screw comes out)

hope this helps.

Good look fellas. The reason I took of the spoiler originally was cuz they put so much d#mn silicone on the underside of the trunk lid that the wire harness was stuck... The only way to get it out was to take the spoiler off...

I'm really starting to like the Non spoiler look on a Max, but it would have to be dropped a decent amount. I'm flirting with the idea of taking mine off and selling but I wont pay a shop to fill the holes that will be left on my trunk.
