How Dark Should I Tint?
I'm gettin my car tinted next wensday and i wasn't sure how doark i should go! At first i thought 35 for the front two,and then 20 for the rest. I have a black 96 and i figured 20 all around would look real damn good! anyone with a tinted black, or any tint for that matter help me out! thanx

whatever you get i have one suggestion get the same % f/r. it looks so much better even. i just had my friend tint her lexus and she didn't want to be as dark as me, but wanted a nice look. so she got 35% f/r. it looks really really nice. its like classy nice. i wouldnt trade for mine, 5% f/r, but i would def think about gettin it on another car.
ps- def do the sunroof. i saw a car once w/o the sunroof tinted and the rest of the windows were. it was just funny looking. it looked like it had big hole in the roof.
pps- yes you can "was" tint. just get some soapy water and put it in a spray bottle and wax on wax off.

I just wasn't sure how fragile it is. That's the thing I'm worried about; front and rear do look much better when they are the same, but often not as dark. I think it is an option that you will be happier with in the long run, however. Tint that is unbalanced (darker in back, lighter in front) looks best on SUV's perhaps.
does anyone have any pics of a tan or beige 4th gen with a dark tinted sunroof? just wondering how it looks on a light car.

Do any of you with these really dark tints ever get the back window with a lighter tint?
I have never owned a car with tinted windows, and everytime i drive someones car with limo tint or something of the like, its always a NIGHTMARE trying to look thru ur rearview. Not that i NEED to be able to look out the back window, i know we have side mirrors, but the thing is, when i mash i am constantly looking in my rear view watching for cops, you can get a much clearer view of the po po before he sees you if you stay ontop of things, i couldnt imagine doing this with limo tint.....
I was planning on doing 20-35% all the way around EVENLY, would this be just right for what im looking for? im not really too knowledgable on the percents and how dark they really are...

I just got my windows tinted 2 days ago. The tinter used sungard (sp?) tint 20% all around. Im still waiting for the three day "waiting" period to let the tints settle in. My car is black and it looks awesome, during the day you can see in but you will only see the outline of my body and during night it gets even harder to see in. 35% is too light. Also the colour of your interrior will have an effect on the appearance as well. If you have a lighter coloured interrior (beige) the tints will look lighter compared to if you had black leather.

dont go with any of that phantom tint, stay within the legal limit or you will be breakin the law. JohnnyLaw will pull you over and write you up a ticket, and make you rip it out and then go back to the station and right on their chalkboard. " I will not use illegal tint on my Maxima!" 500 times.
illegal tint also increases your risk of an accident, which causes you to be a harm or hazard to others, do your really want to be a hazard while driving ? and yes this post is a joke ! i have always had 5% but recently moved. now im going to have to settle for 35% or try 20% much more strict here

dont be a bish and get 5% all around..
Were is Black Maxima on this one. He has a 96 black max with 5% all around. Lives in CT and has not gotten pinched once. I have 35% sides and 20% rear. I do plan ON redoing to 20% side and 5% rear.
Not really a good picture. I'll put some better ones up soon.

I have 35% all around on my car which in NY is still illegal. Everyone I know that has 20% have gotten pulled over for the tint.
In NY the law is that 70% of sunlight has to pass through the side windows. So basically any tint is illegal. If you dont want to have to worry about getting a ticket, then go with 35%. It is noticably lighter than 20% so chances are the cops wil leave you alone for it, but you still get the look and protection of tint.

I had 20% on my Maxima:
5% on the IS300
The 5% is nice but can get annoying at night and I feel the need to roll down my window very time I pull up beside a cop, as it is nearly impossible to see through them.

But if you are like BlackMaxima, you can get 5% but just remember that you will get pulled over for it eventually
"5% tint so you can't see up in my window..."

Wonder if someone, somewhere put Electro-chromatic tint on his car ..........custom tintng would be the bomb.
5% when you need it ( hanky-panky point, hehe ..)
100% when you dont ( state trooper inspecting your debadged rear end)
