after i had my y-pipe installed i've been getting a screeching noise whenever i get above 4000rpms it seems. and just now it was faintly making a screeching noise at 2500rpms then the noise goes away and comes back again at 4000rpm. is this noise normal? or could someone possibly tell me what might be wrong here.

 

maybe a leak, but i have never heard it be described as a screeching noise at all. Try tightening up the bolts and check for leaks.

 

i think it's my gasket, ordered one and should have it installed on monday.

What kind of y-pipe is it? A screeching noise... never heard that one before. Look at the bolts and gaskets, and also your flex section. Check for leaks.

i have a ws y. and my mechanic said theres a gap between the gasket and the Y. i was suppose to get the gasket replaced today but the shop didn't get the gasket they ordered for me yet. so i'll probably get it fixed on wed. hope getting a new gasket will fix the problem.

 

What's the screeching sound, sound like?

 

um like its howling? Nah probably just enough air and makes a whistling noise? had something similar on my other car, the metal motor mounts didnt allow enough flex for the long tube to bolt to the cat properly, had to do urethane inserts, but that alleviated the noise. your gasket should set you right.
