Starting issue

Well today I started the car and she quickly cut off. So I tried again. It would crank and then it puttered as if it was going to start. I tried it the 3rd time and same results only this time I was smelling fuel. The fourth time I tried starting it, she puttered and I gave it gas and it started. Any ideas on what could be giving me this starting problem? Could it be the fuel filter?

Thank all
John

Had the same problem

This exact thing happened to me and it turned out to be the fuel pump. Pretty easy relacement and you are going to want to do it before it completely goes out.

Do you have hold it a bit on "ON" or got straight to starting?

Because if you hold it at "ON" for a bit you will let to pump in some gas, I think. You're probably going to need a new pump.

check to see if ur connections are good to your starter. u should have at least 12v's getting to the starter. if not then u have voltage drop between the started and the battery....

Ok thanks for all your help. I went out yesterday and bought a new fuel pump, installation was pretty easy. But I still have the same prob. I also noticed that when I try to start it up and it finally kicks in, I get a large cloud of white/blue smoke from the exhaust. Could it be that my plugs are bad? Its also throwing a code for the front o2 sensor.

thanks again
