Leather Seat Conversion...HELP!
Leather Seat Conversion...HELP!
I am about to purchase some used leather seat covers. I currently have tan upholstery and plan on doing the swap myself. However, before I purchase, I would like to just make sure that it can be done and without too much of a headache. Can anyone tell me what I will need extra, or if it can or can't be done by myself?
Thanks, and the sooner the better. I'm trying to close a deal.
Greatly appreciated
EDIT: Also, it is not sure what year these came from. Is there any way to confirm the year, or that these will at least fit a 4th gen?

No offense dude...but with 1683 posts...you should know this one.
Seat covers just go over the seat. If you mean you actually got real leather seats it should just be an easy drop in. Do you have heated/power seats? Why dont you know what year the car is?

this other guy bought them intending to put them on his 4th gen. but he never did and is passing them down again. I'm just paranoid that I'll buy them and then they won't fit or will take more work than intended to put them on. is there like a clip kit that is required, or what? and can the cloth ones be taken off without damage?
seriously, i have never done anything with my seats and my car is about 1500 miles away so I can't just hop out in the garage and check it out.

save yourself the time and money, just buy leather seats rear ($150 is reasonable used) they drop right in, then u will just have to do some basic lego work on getting leather fronts in. (fronts are way more expensive buy they way, I suggest getting a pair off of evolution autodesign or something for a modest $350 a pair new shipped, it beats the $400 used for stock leather non electric ones that I seam to only find)
if your talking about re-upholstering the seats to leather that just sounds like a lot of work and i have no experience doing that? but sounds like a waste.

its easy if the leather isnt just raw..if it was meant to fit onto a 4th gen seat..then you will be fine..all you have to do..is take out the staples that are holding down the cloth part....take off the cloth..then just slip on the leather one..its quite simple actually.

if you look on the bottom of your seat..the cloth doesnt cover the ENTIRE foam part of the seat...it is only staples to give it a *tight* fit look (which by the way is stapled with a regular staple gun)....so you have 2 options when installing the leather one....1 if it already is banded at the bottom (*banded: ex. like boxers have a band that is able to loosen and tighten around the waist) same concept..if they are already tightened at the bottom you can just slip them on...if they need to be stapled because for some odd reason the flaps hand down from the bottom of the seat...just staple then (with a staple gun, the BIG A$$ staples) to nearly/around the same spots where they where before. If you dont understand what i mean by flaps..take out your rear seat and look on the bottom of it to see what i am talking out...the cloth doesnt wrap around the whole bottom....i hope this helps...ALSO look at this thread http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....3&page=2&pp=30 if you scroll down you will see metal maxima's interior seat covers...if they look like that...i believe thats the one that just slips ontop of the seat..i also suggest contacting metal maxima to know how he is going to do it..but i believe i described it as accuratley as it could have been. hope this helps.
