Need Help For Great Handling

ok i just got some tokico illumina adjustable shocks installed with eibach pro-kit springs on my '98 maxima. now im thinking of getting the rear sway bar and front strut bar, or just one of those. please tell me what is more useful with my current installment, a rear sway bar, a front strut bar, or both? also what brand names should i use for them. please people reply only if you have a lot of knowledge about this. thank you!

i have those kuhmos on my 5 speed and i have all my suspension modds on that car and at a 25 to 30 mph curve those tires scream like a biiootchh. but regular driving them are one of the best. and on my auto i have no suspension modds on it except performance tires and i can take the same curve at like 45 to 50 mph. tire make a hel1 of alot of difference.

as far as the bars get them both at the same time the rear bar will cost you about $90 look in the classified 4th gen section. and the front will cost ya about $30 on ebay.

Yeah....
Before you focus on other suspension mods.. I would focus on tires...
You can have coilovers and everything, and if you have crappy tires, it'll slide all over the place....
Get 225/50/16's......

Kumhos are garbage. they have the weakest sidewalls and people always complain about them at my job. out of every set i have mounted and demounted there has always been those bubbles in the sidewalls. not only that but i had a pair myself and they lasted about one summer with my 240sx, no drifting or ne thing just a little hard driving.

I've never had a problem with my Hankook Ventus K104 Sports. But, before this becomes a tire thread...your suspension setup sounds decent as of right now. For the rear I would shop around for an Addco sway bar. Best bang for the buck as far as I'm concerned. FSTB...truthfully, I don't think brand name matters. I have a Freedom Designs bar that I grabbed from Ebay for like $50-Works like a charm. Also, its never a bad idea to pull off your front 2 wheels and inspect the boots on the steering rack and check for play in your tie rods. Good luck!

Tires 1st. As for the RSB I would definately buy that over a FSTB any day of the week. And I would buy a lower tie bar over a FSTB as well. The lower tie bar is a night and day difference. The FSTB is barely noticeable IMO.

Think about some Energy Suspension Control Arm bushings too. I just put these on my car and it made a huge difference.

If you're already lowered, a RSB isn't necessary. Get a LTB and ES bushings to tighten up the front. But tires come first since they are the only thing that touches the road....

Just curious, whats the handling like with just the eibachs and illuminas? Are they harsh at all like a lotta people say?

I have Koni Yellows in the front, KYB AGX's in the rear, with Eibach springs...
I love it! Yes, it is more harsh than riding on H&R's or Progress's or something like that...
But I like feel of it better. It gives you a very solid feeling over the car, and it is very predictable.
I have the fronts about 3/4 turn away from the firmest setting... and I have the AGX's on 7/8.
I would highly reccomend Eibach springs...
They are my second set of springs, on my second max.
GREAT STUFF!

Mike
