heavy vibration

Well recently here I have been having lots of issues with my axles. When I bought the car the original axles boots were torn. So I went to Autozone and purchased driver and passenger side axles.

Well come to find out at install the passenger side is a teeny tiny bit too long I can't put my center cap back on.

And the driver side had lots of play in it. Took it to Nissan and wasted $130. So I decided to purchase a driver side axle from Raxles.com. The axle came yesterday and on inspection of the axle it has an extra ring on the inner joint that the Autozone axle did not have. This ring hugs around the oil seal for a tight fit.

I was certain that the driver side axle was causing my vibration due to a lot of play in it. I installed the Raxle CV this morning and it doesn't move at all. I was excited, finally maybe my vibration would be gone.

On the test drive though the vibration is still there, not as severe, but still VERY noticeable. One thing though the car is quicker now that the axle isn't moving all about.

I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on what may cause this vibration. I am going to purchase the passenger side CV from Raxles next week or so. Due to the quality of these CV joints from them.

I'm thinking the vibration maybe from

1. Passenger side axle now
2. Need of an alignment
3. Tires feathering from not having an alignment from previous owner.

Sorry for the long post, but this vibration is really starting to drive me NUTS!!!

When does the car vibrate - at what speeds, is it worse while turning..

It could be a variety of things, ranging from wheel balancing, bad tires, bent rim, to worn suspension components, ball-joints, etc.

It vibrates as I'm accelerating. When cruising you can feel it but its not real bad while cruising.

1st gear you don't feel it too much till about 4K, but in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th its bad.

I thought about this too. I think I'm gonna swap out the 17s and put the 15 sawblades on and see if the vibration dissappears.

If it doesn't disappear with the 15's on the car, ya might wanna double check your wheel bearings also.

I had a vibration/ shuddering only on acceleration , about a month ago. I checked
the axles and found a little play in the driver side axle. Since they were under lifetime
warranty , I replaced them both at the same time. It completely cured the vibration -
shudder.

No there was no vibration before I changed the axles. I am going to purchase a passenger axle form Raxles next week.

There is no play in the driver's side, so I'm thinking the passenger side maybe the culprit.

one of your axles is probably bad. I had the shuddering on acceleration-
replaced the axles and it's been silky smooth since - 25,000 miles.

I just dropped the car at the mechanic, just hoping it's nothing major. The car shudders when I push the gas pedal even while the car is parked, so I don't know if it's the axle problem. The guy says it sounds like the axle problem, maybe a bent axle or something. Don't know if a bad CV joint can cause this problem, I don't hear any clicking sound at all on turns.

Ohh, btw, the Service Engine Soon light blinks after being on for some time and then the blinking goes away giving way to steady SES light ON.

4DRSPEED, how much did the axle cost you from raxles.com ? thx

Vibration....not so much - more like a "hiccup" or stuttered acceleration. Probably audible from tailpipe if it were a bad coilpack.

I had this same problem. You need to replace the same axle that you just did because its bad. Trust me i already did it and problem solved.
